Plots 13 and 14 are new builds completed in March 2020 and are thatched in Water Reed. The thatching of new builds is not as rare as people think. We normally thatch around 2 new builds a year. This is good for the craft and is always a pleasure to do, as there is no stripping off of the old roof. This job was completed in 2 weeks by a team of 4.
Suffolk Rethatching with Long Straw
In this Suffolk job we stripped off a layer at the front of the property, before Re-thatching it in 16 to 18 inches of Long Straw. The back of the property was in a good condition so we were able to repair this, allowing us to keep the cost down for the owner.
